Sod Prices & Turf Installation

Even though we can plant a Sod quality lawn for a fraction of the cost of Turf we occasionally see customers install Sod for an instant lawn. We understand the gratification of seeing a lush green carpet installed the same day but it is important to choose the right Turf. Sod will cost in the range of $.40 - $.55/Sq. Ft. for a more sustainable grass blend. It will cost more for delivery, prices will vary depending on quantity delivered. This does not include the cost to install the lawn. Our exclusive Turf Type Tall Fescue Mix, once established, is comparable to the Black Beauty Tall Fescue sold at local sod farms.

Sod takes up to 8 months to establish deep enough roots before it can be cut for delivery. During the growing period the new grass is maturing in the most ideal conditions. Sod growers put many hours of care into their fields and many products are used to control weeds, diseases and insect damage. A blend of predominantly Kentucky Bluegrass is the most popular turf sold in here in Rhode Island.

Although other choices are available most people choose the standard roll of Kentucky Bluegrass. This particular grass does very well in full sun. It also needs to be fertilized often to keep its dark green appearance. It is important that you choose the right Sod that will be adaptable to the location where it will be transplanted. If it is transplanted in less ideal conditions or the wrong place your new lawn may not survive. It is very important to have a watering and lawn care program in place to help with the re-establishment of the roots “taking” to your soil.

Hydro Seeding offers the contractor more flexibility when choosing the right grass seed for a particular location. If we have a yard with full sun in the front and dense shade in the back yard we can mix a tank with Kentucky Bluegrass for the front and a mix of Fescue for the back. The Fescue mix will stand a much better chance in the dense shade. We also have the ability to add weed preventive, lime, fertilizer, fungicide, insecticides and many other products to produce sod quality results. This is all applied in one easy step.

We used a 50/50 mix of Kentucky Bluegrass and Perennial Rye to plant this lawn. In one month it was ready for mowing. Within one year you would think we rolled out Turf. See our Photo Gallery for more pictures.
